Hi All!!

S after a loooooong departure from the orchid world I have returned!! Slippers have always been my true love and I cant wait to get started on greenhouse construction this weekend.

A little background on me: I started growing orchids when I was about 12 years old. My father and I were members of all the local clubs and even started out own business selling orchids when I was in my teens. At 17 I was elected Vice President of the Malahini Orchid Society in Cupertino CA. Honestly, I had no idea what in the world I was doing so any members at that time who are reading this.....sorry.
When I went off to college, the orchids kinda took a back seat to college type things like parties, girls and some more partying. Needless to say the hobby kinda died out.
Now that I am happily married with 1.75 kids (baby #2 is due in July) my mentioned that we really need a place to have the various orchids that have gathered in the house. And she really enjoys having blooming plants in the house too. Hence the comment about greenhouse construction this weekend.
My main interests are in Phrags and multifloral Paphs.

Thats it,

Tyler Albrecht

Hey Tyler! Welcome from Ontario, Canada! You sound like someone who'll be sticking around for awhile. I look forward to hearing about your growing collection and eventually seeing your photos.

Funny; you don't mention EDUCATION! LOL!

BTW: Would you please update your profile so that "San Jose California" shows up in the upper right hand corner of your posts. It always helps a lot when having conversations with other members about culture, etc., for people to be able to put your comments into a geographical context. Thanks!

We're about to launch a new ST auction to support the cost of running this forum. You should watch that closely. There are a lot of USA members who will be donating nice plants. You could soon be picking up a few special plants. Good luck!

I can have them 'hit' if you want!

nah, was too long ago, and he apologized later. actually the dude was sort of stalking a housemate, thinking he was a major indian don juan, and I had to tell him to cool it or leave. he had been accused previously of doing the same thing to another woman in another house, and if he appeared before a judge again it would have meant going back to india. so, he panicked thinking that I was going to get him booted out of the country. my plants and shelves were rudely deposited from the basement rather forcibly on the outside pavement and many didn't survive the insult.

of course there was more to it than that, and we were both intent on annoying the other before this, but I let him go (or stay in the country) and he chilled out and became fairly responsible. my orchids however joined the huge scrap-heap that has been my lifetime orchid collection; it's too bad that the innocent are always caught in the middle of hostilities
