What a gorgeous plant!
There doens't seem to be that many growths yet. I'm sure it'll be more floriferous when the plant has grown into a larger clump.

My roebellinii had 4 flowers 2 years ago, 5 flowers last year and currently has 6 buds. It has taken a while, but it is comforting to see the progress.

Now THAT has got be something!!!:drool::drool: Can't wait to see a photo of that blooming :p

This is an awesome clone and definitely award able. The dorsal has a some cupping but all segments are very good. I would advice more flower to get a higher award.

Thanks hardy. Whether I can get all 6 flowers open at the same time will be the question. I find the flowers don't tend to be long-lived in this species. Last year I could only get 4 flowers open at the same time.

The flowers are a bit small compared to the average of the cross. Some in this cross have a spread of 25-30 cm. The dorsal size is pretty average and cupped. But considering that it is a young plant and this cross averages 4 flowers per inflorescence, I would consider that it will improve with age.

The color is excellent, the stance is exceptional, it has a lot going for it. I would hold off until it is more mature before taking it to judging, the award will almost certainly be better.

That is a very nice lady isabel and if you lived in the us I would be trying to buy it from you. Who cares what judges think. It has great color and saturation of the pouch. Great dorsal shape and nice synsepal. The twisting of the petals slightly at the tips is not a flaw. It is a trait of stonei and as long as it does not take away from the flower who cares. Much of symmetry is environmental especially if it changes from one flower to the next. The size does leave something slightly to be desired. As well as flower count which is environmental at least with regard to 3 and not 4 flowers. I would bet that 99% of lady isabels are capable of getting at least 4 flowers with the right environment. Don't worry about cupping of the dorsal slightly that is why it has such a nice shape. To me flat dorsals look like crap most of the time. Its like the american judges who want to see a flat complex. Who the heck wants to see that? There is nothing holding the shape of the flower in a complex without some cupping. I dont worry about NS either, petal stance can greatly affect this and I like the down swept petals on a LI sometimes. Anyways that is a nice LI. Could it be larger? yeah. It is nice though. Some of that is environment. What is the cross?

Thanks Paphioland. Given what you regularly post that is a big rapt coming from you. So much appreciated.

No idea of the cross. It didn't come with the parents on the label. I saw it when it flowered for the first time and grabbed it. Cost me a bit. Next time I speak to the original owner I will ask him.

I'm confident I will get 4 flowers eventually - maybe even next flowering. The growths are getting bigger. It currently has a couple of considerably larger unflowered growths. When it does I will get it judged. I live in the coldest city in Australia which also has very hot dry summers. So growing conditions are tough. I do my best but it is hard to get my paphs reaching there full potential. It takes me a while and many growths to get my multis reaching high flower counts. Last year many of my multi's had there highest ever flower count so I'm getting there.

David, you say the growths are getting bigger. What is the leaf span on the largest growth? Ernie sold me one of these last fall, that is currently in bud. It has a 32 inch leaf span and a small start and is showing 4 buds. Now, if it can only be a quality flower.

Thanks Bob. Your LI looks promising. That is a good start. Look forward to seeing the photos.

I measured my 2 large unflowered growths and they were both 30 inches across. They are possibly still growing a bit but I expect them to flower next spring/summer (6 months). So that is getting pretty close to yours. When you combine it woth a good size clump it may sneak out a fourth flower. The leaves are getting a little wider as well.

The person I bought if off first flowered it with 3 flowers so a mature plant should easily be able to flower at least 4. He came from Queensland which is perfect for multi-florals.

I find with these multi-florals that the growths flower after 2 years irrespective of the size. Which makes it hard in a temperate climate where you don't get a lot of winter growth.
