Paph (William Stirling x Garibaldi)

Here's a change of pace from all the wonderful species shown in the last few days. This is a cross between two smaller old complex Paphs, William Stirling, registered in 1940 by Sanders, and Garibaldi, reigistered in 1918 by Sir George Holford. The plant is very compact, with a leaf span on the largest growth of 8 inches (20 cm). The flower measurements are:
Natural Spread(NS) 7.5 cm
Dorsal Width(DW) 5.8 cm
Petal Width(PW) 2.5 cm

Both parents are compact growing complex Paphs. I believe the hope of the hybridizer was to produce complex flowers on a small plant.

I love this cross! It is a very nice dark flower with a beautyful pattern on a long stem and a compact grower too.

This is the first of this cross to bloom for me. I have used both parents in other crosses. Some are seedlings and some are at the lab.
