WOWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!

I should be seeing Leo x Ace blooming for the first time in the coming months, so excited!

Excellent. Are you growing out a flask or just have an individual plant? I assume you saw Brad say he has had 3 plants from this cross get an AM. So your chances of getting a nice one is good.

Well done, what an improvement from its AM flowering.

You reminded me of one thing I meant to mention. Despite having an extra flower, the spike length was 25 cm shorter than when it received an AM. In this flowering, I grew it much brighter which resulted in a much shorter and stronger spike. As a result, it barely needed staking other than down low to stop the spike leaning forward (see last photo). When it first flowered, the spike was so tall and spindly, it could not hold the weight of the flowers.

I grew out a flask.. Have about 8 plants and should see the first spike this season.

I am several years behind everyone else blooming these.

Fantastic. You would expect at least a couple of those to be top shelf. Good luck. Look forward to seeing how they turn out.

But Leslie it is not a JB it is named as
Paphíopedilum Wössner Black Wings
officially some years ago by the breeder Franz Glanz. It is really an excellent clone, especially with so many flowers.

The Australian Orchid Council does not recognise anitum as a separate species, so it is awarded under adductum X roth's. I think every one of the 30 or so awarded JB's here involved the anitum form of the species.

thats the cross i wanted to make. It didnt take with my FCC JB. Im up for flasks!!!

No problems. I did pollinate two SB flowers with multiple JB pollen and the flowers were still very fresh, so I am hopeful.

I had two spikes on my Paracombe, so I also put some pollen of my best roth (Anisha AM clone) onto it, so hopefully will produce some high quality Gary Romagna's. That is a nice cross when you get large Roth like flowers with a bit of praestans influence.
