... from oak hill gardens in illinois. the flowers are fairly large and deeply-colored, but I couldn't detect any fragrance
. I have four or so schillerianas now, and I'm hoping that one will be fragrant and look like a 'normal' schilleriana. I like more of the natural look than the 'improved' versions of species flowers. this may be a tetraploid which could be what makes the flowers larger and darker than usual. ... is it me, or should the lip for a standard schilleriana be a fair amount larger/longer than what is seen in these flowers? (just noticing that) they are nice enough in their own way. the flowers were still opening a bit, and my landlord had done some painting in the living room so they were looking a little cuppy (didn't know if the paint fumes were hurting the flowers at all) but they may be flattening out a bit, now
had to get creative to find a way to display the plant/flowers properly.
I tipped the pot sideways underneath my lights, so that the flower spike
wouldn't grow up into the tubes and as a result the flowers and spike are
at an odd angle to the rest of the plant
I did damage one flower the other day when I pulled the plant out of my plant stand (sigh)
