Phragmipedium besseae 'Mega' x 'Zephyrus Mega'

This besseae bloomed during our recent heat wave. I ignored it thinking it would either blast or be completely washed out. I was wrong on both counts. It should be even vibrant when the conditions are more favorable.

Given some of the outcomes, I am really happy with this one. The others have been fine examples besseae but this one is the best so far.

Yeah but this particular pairing has thrown horribly mangled Quasimodos almost exclusively.

I would not go as far as to say mangled. More older style, given the parentage.

Every one of this breeding has been horrible for me as well. Pretty upsetting since spending a significant amount of money on the flasks.

Friends have sent pictures as they bloom out. All I can say is: I wish they hadn't.
