I first posted this in the beginer section but I realized I should have posted it here instead. This is my fisrt phrag to bloom for me. Bought it from Peruflora at the Montreal show last year. The long petals keep growing and the bloom is so strong that it does not even need support.

I grow it quite wet and never let it dry. I was afraid to lose the flowers if I would let it dry. So far so good :)

A little update. It's been 4 weeks since my phrag caudatum bloomed (flowers opened on june 6). Now the flowers are changing color and getting more yellowish. I guess it's going to end soon, but what an amazing month it was! I did not expect the flowers to last more than 2 weeks...so very happy!

Here are the flowers taken today, maybe another week of life?

Wow, four weeks is a long time for a Phrag! Is that normal for this species? I love the petals.

I don't know. I only started with phrag last year and this is my first one to bloom. I read 2 weeks, maybe 3 but maybe caudatum has a longer life.

My house is cool, with AC and a fan for air circulation, so maybe this helped preserve the flowers longer?

Slipperfan, the longest petals are 21 inches.
