These are at the end of their season now. the final one is of the surroundings (part of my drive into work in the morning!)

It's just north of Glasgow, and about 10 miles south of loch lomond. The leaves are about 2-3 inches long, about an inch wide, and plicate (I think that's the right word!). Is this similar to macrophylla then?

Yes, the drive is beautiful - I drive along a glacial valley towards the Trossach hills, then turn towards Glasgow and away from the hills. I tend to forget how beautiful it is!

macrophylla leaves are like small round dinner plates that hug the ground, somewhat more oblong than round, usually but definitely not thin or grasslike at all. sometimes each leaf can get to be 8 or so inches long. interesting that the flower can resemble macrophylla so much but have tiny leaves
