Not wildly enamoured with this, but it is a first time flowering for me. A strong kolo influence, bigger flowers, .......?

Therein lies the problem. When you start making excuses for the plant on the basis of what the cross is? I guess it is OK, but that again is the problem, it is just OK, not great and I don't believe it has much room for improvement. As Rick so accurately observed, I don't have enough space for a plant like this. Gotta go, gotta go, ......

Before you find it a new home, maybe self it? What it lacks is good presentation but those genes are hiding there from the St Swithin line. The major benefit of kolo genetics is flower count and more yellow---correct? If you are willing to invest a few years you could get some very nice St Swithin-like plants with bolder color and higher flower count.

If it was a case of a 'few' years, I would consider it. I am not a great advocate of selfing inferior parents in the hope of generating a few good offspring, the investment in time and space and money does not warrant the percentage outcome (IMO). I think its presentation, size and colour are acceptable, it is the flower count that is off, as well as the fact that it does not offer much over the species parent apart from larger flowers (and only just) I would be more inclined to explore Bel Royal x philli or Temptation x roths, even Bel Royal x kolo

I see your point. With the excellent Bel Royals you own there's not much need for something so similar. I do like the green petals on this one, and it is not bad at all. Just not different. With phil and kolo in it I would demand a higher flower count than four.

Not a stupid idea at all, just not feasible in my current space. I have selfed the plant and when the pod is ripe I will send the seed to you. I hope that it works for you.
