Wössner Black Wings

No sun for good photos today but here it is while the first flower is still fresh!
Paphiopedilum Wössner Black Wings (rothschildianum x anitum ‘Ace’ AM/AOS)
blooming for the first time and it is quite nice.
The plant is over 3ft tall and wider than my arm!! The dorsal width at 6.2 cm & petal length at 18cm.
There is a new growth big enough to bloom again next year.
A fellow slipper enthusiast (Thank you, Mike!!) gifted me a small seedling a few years ago and it has turned out better than expected.
I think I can let go of my sick Hsinying Anita now.

They look like they are about the same size. I have WBWs from different sources and none of mine are small. Mike

The scent has very mild sweet undertone which I really like.
It reminds me of those large white Beallara hybrids (Tahoma Glacier etc) I used to have a bunch of many years ago. They all had this same mild blackpepper smell with sweet undertone.

It is. I only have information on the anitum parent, though.

Possibly rothschildianum 'Red Sea' x anitum 'Ace' AM/AOS
Anitum parent is correct for sure since he made two crosses of this using pollen from the same anitum.
Only the roth parents were different.

The weather isn’t helping and I’m going to make some crosses, so last photos while all three flowers are open today
