This is an awarded plant of mine that I was looking forward to showing this year.....well, not any more. ( & please don't call them Bulldogs)

well, it looks funny (at least!) :D

I know what you mean, I am now posting pics of what on of my Paph helenae is doing :(

You've made me curious as to why a switch would take place. Wouldn't the dorsal begin to form in front of the ventral when the bud is still small? Or do they form at the same spot and its a toss up as to which will take the outside position?

OK...I feel like a re-re. I love paphs, and I've never had this issue, or even thought twice about it.

So much to learn. At least Im young.

I will always remember Norris Powell, with every reference he made to these, calling them "Modern Day Paphiopedilum Hybrids". He had said it so many times over the years that the phrase rolled off his tongue faster than some people could say "toad."

What is the reason 'Bulldog' is not considered acceptable? I always thought it had some reference to the look of the flower - usually big and bulky - but later learned that it was a reference to Winston Churchill (is that right?). Is this a negative reference?
