    Tough Orchid Suggestions

Maybe you could develop your own....has anyone crossed the cold hardy "ugly" Epidendrum magnoliea with something like a Laelia anceps to introduce color and retain cold tolerance? Get one of the E. Magnoliea and when it blooms start putting pollen on it from promising donors! (Get back to us in...

    Rhyncolaelia digbyana

I always wondered if anyone ever crossed this with Epidendrum ilense. It seems it would reduce size of the plant, might increase flower count, and keep all the fringe on the lip....now if we could only add some color...

    Paph Little Bright Eyes '#4'

WOW, thats a beauty Ross. I agree, of the other 2 I saw posted, this is my favorite. It seems hard to find a nice clear "complex type" pink Paph. How many more of these do you have coming along?

    Rainsing my greenhouse

What is the orientation of the present green house? Since you were thinking of doing a solid roof and wall on the north half, could you do that with the present structure? Just dismantle the north side ( I am assuming it is on a East /West axis, with the entry door at the north or south end)...

    Rainsing my greenhouse

wouldn't rising the green house just give you more interior space in need of holding heat? The heat would rise to the top and you would be stuck with a cool underneath area. And if you raise the walls 4 feet, will you need to raise the plants too? if so, all your work space will be over head...

    micranthum var.eburneum

Are these siblings from the same cross? If so, it is interesting to see the variation.

    ST 2011 Annual Auction

Hi Rose, I had a couple ideas to drum up interest. -Perhaps we could have past winners post photos of plants they won and bloomed..... -We could have an "Oh CANADA!" plant each week if we can line up some Canadian donors....we have some really great Canadian members after all! -Maybe do...

    Does phrag besseae = dalessandroi?

I understand that another big difference is growth habit, Besseae tends to climb out of a pot on successive growths, while delessadroi tends to grow in more of a clump. I had heard similar information about chromosome counts, but I don't recall where.

Where do you get your phrags?

NYEric should know! Thats a great list. Are you looking for something in particular? Plus joining a local society and finding plants on sale or for trade may help. And don't forget Chuck Acker.

    Paph (William Stirling x Garibaldi)

Maybe you should back cross it to Wm Stirling. Are you breeding with any of these?

    Paph. tranlienianum

"last but not least, girls are cheap" It is a sad commentary that women are listed as just another commodity.

    Paph Lucky Bells

looks great! I have one open now too, and a couple more coming along from Nick's final sale. I will try and get a photo up. Eric

Where to get Angracoids in FL

Krull Smith is now June's Orchid estate I think

    Phrag. St. Ouen flavum

I think breeding for a group of yellow phrags that would be easier to flower/grow would be a worthy pursuit. How about crossing to the Phrag Cahaba Morning Mist that were posted recently. I think 2 of those were pale yellow, and one was pink .

    wilhelminae hybrid? (lost tag)

Does Lyro Blackhawk have leaves that big?

    Another "feathered" L. anceps

I think Dot is correct, it appears to be exactly the same flower from a different angle. Perhaps there was a mix up in up loading.
