Very nice, Ray.
I have had my Clivia miniata for over 35 years. It only bloomed nicely one time in NJ and one lousy blooming in DE for all these years...now it has 4 large growths, a beautiful plant but it just won't bloom for me even if I gave it a cool/cold winter rest in my garage...

Ooh nice!
I love my Clivia! Several growths and it seems like it blooms all the time! Here it is today, with another bigger bunch of flowers on the way.

I keep it regularly watered and fertilized in spring and summer, much drier and cooler in the winter.
Gets strong light from an east window in the mornings. Potted in chunky orchid mix with some succulent mix thrown in there.

Good growing.

This thread makes me a little nostalgic. Back in South Africa we grew them in ground in the garden where they grew and flowered like weeds. They grew so big I would not have considered indoor growing but yours, Ray, looks to be of manageable size.

The plant grows out on my deck from mid/late April through the summer. It gets mighty hot and is very humid, but being on the north side of my house, it is exposed to a very bright, open sky, but gets absolutely no direct sunlight.

It stays outside until the overnight temperatures threaten to drop into the low-40’s, at which point it is moved into an unheated, enclosed alcove/porch, also on the north side of the house. Because the porch is surrounded by interior rooms on 3 sides, it pretty much stays above freezing all winter, but being cold, watering is kept to a minimum and feeding is all but nonexistent.

I have a yellow version as well, but it’s apparently too young to bloom yet.

Fascinating to see S&H and hear of others’ troubles. I’ll share mine. This orange Clivia has been in my family for at least 50 years and I’m guessing much longer. We all grow them in promix. I like to summer mine in a sheltered spot outdoors but they do get scale and mealies so I watch them. Every ten years or so they crowd themselves out of the large pot and must be chopped up; I recently chopped one into 40 large bulbs. They seem to make new growths spontaneously and easily and mature them in about 3 years to bloom — and mature growths bloom every year. I don’t know that I’m giving them a cold rest per se but they do stay outside until freezing. They like to be potbound and dislike being repotted; I know they won’t bloom for some years after I divide. When indoors, they seem happy in any light at all and so I tend to stick them in dark corners.

For sure they don't like to be repotted. I repotted mine twice all these years and each time all the roots died off but new ones came very quickly also.
They do enjoy outdoor living like orchids...and matter of fact, mine bloomed nicely in NJ(one time only) when I put it outside(patio) that summer...watch out for sunburn tho.
