Space is my big issue for multis...and I enjoy yours very much, Justin. Do you have the compact lowii too? I heard about it here and I saw one for sale on OL website the other day but I don't know how compact is compact...the new mini/compact roth someone posted here not that long ago was truly fantastic, maybe the mini lowii would be great too.

Just checked out the OL site, not familiar with the compact form of lowii.

I find with lowii they can bloom on relatively small plants, but over the course of years and depending on the clone, they eventually get pretty big.

So if there is a new strain that stays smaller that would be a good thing.

Here is a first bloom Paph stonei 'TN Queen' x self. There are 3 open flowers, but there is a fourth bud that will open later.

I grew this from a 2cm plantlet out of flask18 YEARS AGO. There were many cultural bumps and bruises along the way, but I am happy to finally see it in bloom!

Here is its next biggest sib. This one has nice glossy leaves, and is also getting ready to spike at the next opportunity.

This is spectacular… I need a division for the future trade lol. 18 years wow.

I always think of Balinese dancers when I see them!

A few pouch horns on this one flower but overall adorable.

Culture tips?

For such an odd species I really love supardii. They are just perfectly imperfect lol.

I grow them in medium light, lower light than roths, in orchiata under LEDs. They are pretty slow growing, they just kind of sit there and bloom every 5 years or so.

So the stonei actually turned out to be pretty nice. The flower stance in particular is quite lovely in person.
very nice, I love stonei. I got a plant of 'TN-Queen' BM/TPS x 'TN-Prince' SM/TPS that bloomed last summer. I had another stonei in bloom at the same time; this Taiwanese plant had very slightly smaller flowers with better color. This plant was definitely more compact though. I can't take credit for growing it up, as I got it as a mature plant!

Excellent color. That is a keeper for sure.

From the "wish me luck" category, here is a set of Paph malipoense plants.

I grew these from an Orchid Inn flask 10 years ago. These are now showing buds for the first time. The long grow period is definitely a reflection of my sub-optimal indoor conditions and poor cultural skills. A fellow grower in my OS bloomed one I gave him about 5 years ago, so these are way behind.

I know it will still be a long journey to see flowers, but I am thrilled they got this far. I am actually satisfied to grow these just for the foliage. They are absolutely beautiful plants.

Congratulations! They are beautiful. I can't wait to see the blooms. I have been thinking about trying a flask and this is further encouragement.

awesome that you'll end up with a nice sized population from that selfing of his FCC>.. fortunate you are, regardless of how long its taking to get this far...

congrats...

.....and ignore Tony my guess is he could make a rock multiply into a nice specimen AND flower it... :)

Kudos to you for flawlessly growing stunning plants! This is a great survival rate from flask and the foliage is, as you note, absolutely stunning and well worth growing for its own sake. I hope you change nothing about what you’re doing and I dearly hope you get a whole PATCH of wondrous flowers. Looking most forward to your updates!
